They are steels with an extremely high workability on tool-machines also called “free-cutting steels.” They are designed to be machined on automatic machines for the production of a large quantity of pieces where in the first place an excellent workability or machinability is required enabling the reduction of production costs. They can be divided into two main groups: steels not destined to heat treatment hardening and tempering steels.
